A even, well muscled line of 40 bulls were offered with a 100% clearance to average $8807.00. A strong start to the sale was further cemented with Lot 3 Lotus Legion selling to Ben Monie of Thornleigh Herefords for $14000.00.
Top price was Lot 6 Lotus L0012 (HPR) selling to J & L Galwey of Stuarts Creek, Roma Qld for $16000.00. L0012 was the heaviest bull in the draft with impressive EBV's. Stud interest was evident with 10 studs registering but top end commercial beef producers were not going to be out done. Repeat buyers B & M Thompson took home 3 bulls, La Palma Grazing 6 bulls, Townview P/L, R Maloney, Aveliem P/L, R & B Frazer, Kingsgate Station 2 bulls each. Bulls went to Vic, Qld and southern & northern NSW.
"The draft of bulls were even, showed plenty of muscle and depth. There was meat from start to finish. We are naturally pleased with this years sale results and the feedback from people about the eveness of the bulls.

A Glorious winter’s day welcomed a large buying crowd at this year’s 25th Annual Lotus Hereford Bull Sale, held on property ‘Old Farm’ Pinkett, Thursday 28th July. Bidding reached a top of $16,000, with bulls going to NSW, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia. All 38 bulls on offer sold to achieve an outstanding average of $7223, this being a record for the stud. Bidding stayed strong from the opening lot with 19 bulls selling for $7000 or more. The balance of the bulls sold between $4000 - $6500, so all budgets were well catered for. Top price bull was purchased by Celia Mackay on behalf of Yonga P/ltd, Wandoan Qld. First time purchasers at Lotus, the bull is destined for their newly purchased property, ‘Echo’ Deepwater. Lotus K0016, a son of Glenwarrah C021, weighed in at 896kg, and was in the top 10% or better for all EBV growth traits. Celia purchased 2 bulls in total averaging $11,500. Stud interest was evident in the Lotus Bulls with a total of 8 studs registered from across the 3 eastern states, but it was the commercial buyers who prevailed. One of which was repeat and volume buyer on the day Avilem p/ltd, the Jefferies family ‘Isla’ Tenterfield, purchasing 4 bulls to an average of $7125. The 2nd top price bull was purchased by David Phelan, Yarram Victoria for $13,000. A son of Karoonda Northerly and out of a Talbalba Valuer female, Lotus Kinchela K31 weighed 940kg and had an EMA of 140cm. Bidders on the day ranged from 4 states and were made up of repeat buyers along with a many 1st time visitors to the stud. 60% of the bulls went to repeat clients of the Lotus stud with 8 bulls heading out of NSW. A pre-sale inspection lured 1ST time vendors Granite Flat Pastoral, Mitta Mitta Victoria, to invest in some Lotus genetics. Purchasing through Agents Corcoran & Parker Wodonga, Granite Flats purchased 2 bulls to a top of $9,000. Long-time supporter of the stud Steven Newberry liked what he saw and purchased 2 bulls averaging $10,000 along with another purchase for the estate of AA & EJ Newberry for $6,000. The Holliss family thank successful purchasers, underbidders and all who attended their 25th sale. The sale was conducted by Colin Say & Co. and Mike Wilson Studstock & Bloodstock, with Shad Bailey of Colin Say & Co. controlling the bids.

A good crowd in attendance for our 24th sale. A clearance of 34 out of 35 bulls, achieved a top price of $8000 to average $4700.
Top price Lot 12 Lotus J0037 by Talbalba Wagon impressed Phil Duddy with his 942kg and EMA of 137cm.
D Atkinson, K & B Cheers, R Maloney, R Browning & L Taylor were all volume purchasers on the day.
Buyers came from Qld, Victoria and across NSW with approximately 70% return clients.

Fred & Anne Starr (Foxforth Herefords) like what they saw at the 23rd Annual Lotus sale securing the $10,000 top priced bull.
Lotus Harvard (Lot 3) by Cootharaba Parsons weighted 1020kg with a EMA of 130sq/cm. Purchased for his carcass attributes and excellent skin & hair type and sire appeal, Harvard also brings an outcross of genetics for the Starr Family.
A large crowd was on hand to witness the 35 bulls on offer with many being repeat buyers along with some new faces.
24 bulls sold to average $4152. The excellent temperament, great constitution & excellent skin & hair type flowed all the way through the catalalogue. First time sons of Cootharaba Parsons ($4900 Avg) & Curracabark Equator ($4100 Avg) were well received and really put their stamp in the catalogue.
Lotus Hayden ( Lot 8 ), son of Equator and ½ brother to Lotus freight Train is also off to stud duties being purchased by Chris Lisle, Tummell Hereford Stud. The 1st Equator son to be sold Hayden weighed 836 kg and not yet 2 years old had an EMA OF 128.
Long time supporters of the Stud Alt Bros P/Co. of Dundee secured Lotus Houdini for $5500, SC Newberry Lotus Houston for $5500, whilst repeat buyers in Kingsgate Station, Watters Discretional Trust, Rob Maloney & Piperange P/ltd all secured 2 bulls each.
An exciting draft of bulls for next year, including 1st time sons of Talabalba Zeal & Zillmere are something to lookout for in 2015.
